Africa Senior Legal Counsel

Role Overview: We are looking for a seasoned and flexible legal professional to lead legal and compliance initiatives across Africa. This position will focus on navigating complex regulatory landscapes and enhancing Zipline’s compliance framework. As a vital member of our Legal Team, you will manage compliance with U.S. government awards and various regulatory requirements while fostering cross-functional collaborations.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop and refine legal and compliance programs tailored to Zipline's operations in Africa.
• Oversee compliance with U.S. government contracting requirements and liaise with government officials.
• Lead compliance initiatives covering multiple areas including sanctions and anti-corruption.
• Support internal investigations and manage litigation across African markets.
• Advise leadership on regulatory changes and potential risks.
• Encourage a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) with at least 7-10 years of relevant legal experience.
• Active membership in a U.S. state or international bar.
• Experience with government regulations and international law preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
