The Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO Invest), established in 2001, is a Development Finance Institution (DFI) focused on fostering private sector development in emerging economies through sustainable investments. We are currently seeking a skilled investment professional to join our Nairobi regional team.

Role Overview:
As an Investment Officer, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, and negotiating debt and equity investments throughout Eastern and Southern Africa, aligning with BIO’s strategic objectives. Your portfolio will encompass financial institutions, agricultural and manufacturing sectors, as well as renewable energy and digital infrastructure projects.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop a robust pipeline of investment opportunities via proactive outreach and networking.
Lead initial investment assessments, including screening and structuring.
Negotiate term sheets and oversee legal documentation processes.
Analyze financial statements, business plans, and financial models.
Prepare and present investment proposals to internal committees.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure strategic alignment.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, investors, and development partners.
Represent BIO Invest at industry events and contribute insights on market trends.
Mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing.

Requirements:
Master's degree in Finance or Economics (CFA or CPA is advantageous), 5–6 years of investment experience in emerging markets, a proven track record in transaction execution, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. Permanent work authorization in Kenya is necessary, and willingness to travel up to 30% is required.
