About the role
Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled professional to enhance Ubuntu, the top Linux desktop and server environment, by optimizing it for new hardware across the entire Linux ecosystem—from the kernel to the graphical user interface. This engaging role requires a creative problem-solver who can effectively communicate and provide varied solutions in PC and IoT technology. You will work alongside expert engineers from leading silicon manufacturers to incorporate innovative features and boost performance for forthcoming hardware.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement optimal Ubuntu integration for modern IoT and server hardware.
- Collaborate with partners to ensure an outstanding Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
- Take a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience, contributing to technical strategies, testing methodologies, and quality benchmarks.
- Act as a technical leader on intricate customer projects that span cloud to edge systems.
- Support customers in integrating applications, SDKs, and optimizing Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server applications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto) and involvement in open source communities.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
- Capacity to work independently within a globally distributed team.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of graphics stacks and networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST).
- Understanding of IoT security practices.
- Excellent communication abilities, including public speaking.
- Experience with Docker/OCI containers and Kubernetes.
