About the role
Canonical is seeking a Senior or Staff Engineer to join our Security Operations team, which is dedicated to developing and managing a premier Security Operations Center. The successful candidate will lead, mentor, and contribute significantly to our security initiatives. Key responsibilities include performing traditional SOC functions such as security monitoring, threat hunting, and incident response, as well as engaging in security engineering, software development, and site reliability engineering to enhance our security posture.
We welcome candidates with a blend of engineering and security experience, including seasoned security operations professionals and skilled developers with a security background. This role also offers a chance to engage with the open-source community through conference presentations, sharing threat intelligence, and contributing to open-source security software. We also have junior roles available for less seasoned candidates with strong academic or professional records.
Responsibilities:

Requirements:

- Over 10 years of relevant professional experience in cybersecurity or engineering.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and Bash.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and tools is a plus.
