This role focuses on Linux-based software-defined infrastructure and applications, working across various layers such as bare metal, virtualization (KVM), and containerization (Docker, LXC/LXD). You will engage with critical technologies like OpenStack and Kubernetes, contributing to open-source applications that serve millions globally.
Main Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to Ubuntu, OpenStack, and Kubernetes.
- Collaborate closely with Canonical's field, support, and product engineering teams.
- Contribute to upstream communities through code development and patch backporting.
- Review code from other engineers and participate in process improvement discussions.
- Maintain clear technical communication and manage time effectively.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a software engineer with a strong background in Computer Science or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux, OpenStack, Kubernetes, or similar cloud technologies.
- Development proficiency in Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
- Experience with debugging tools like gdb and familiarity with git repositories.
- Exceptional academic record and a readiness to travel up to four times a year.
