About the role
Canonical, a prominent figure in open-source software and operating systems, is on the lookout for a GitOps Engineering Manager to lead a premier DevOps and GitOps engineering team. Our flagship Ubuntu platform plays a vital role in sectors such as public cloud, AI, IoT, and data science. With a workforce of over 1200 spread across more than 80 countries, we prioritize global collaboration, convening in person a few times annually at various locations.
In this role, you will integrate operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership. A solid understanding of Linux and operational management is crucial, along with the capability to lead a high-performing team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating daily agile DevOps processes within your team
- Serving as the IS team representative to stakeholders
- Coordinating and advancing internal projects
- Mentoring engineers to improve their expertise
- Implementing organized engineering and operational procedures
- Ensuring alignment on priorities and deliverables
- Providing consistent, high-quality managed services on a global scale
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong motivation, a solid history of software delivery utilizing infrastructure as code, and experience in managing DevOps teams within a SaaS environment. Proficiency in testing methodologies, complex distributed systems, and cloud technologies is essential. Occasional travel for company events is expected.
