Role Overview
We are seeking a Head of Engineering, Field Verification to spearhead our operations in Kenya following our acquisition of Sumac Microfinance Bank. This role will be pivotal in shaping our business and engineering directions in new markets, starting with Kenya.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop the technical strategy and roadmap for the Field Verification platform.
- Transition the platform from basic maintenance to a proactive development approach.
- Lead and expand a cross-functional engineering team.
- Enhance operational efficiency through route optimization and capacity management.
- Oversee the APIs and webhooks for integration with other business units.
- Deliver a native mobile application for field officers.
- Ensure data compliance and support multi-country expansion.
- Collaborate with Product and other teams on verification processes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant backend expertise (Java, Spring Boot).
- 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, managing teams.
- Ability to work across backend, web, and mobile disciplines.
- Experience in compliance and verification platforms is advantageous.
