With our recent acquisition of Sumac Microfinance Bank, we are launching our operations in Kenya and are seeking a Head of Engineering for our Payment Gateway.

Role Overview
The Monnify platform serves as the online payment gateway connecting merchants to card networks and payment aggregators. The Head of Engineering will direct the technical development and architecture, focusing on scalability, security, and user experience for developers and non-technical users alike. This role encompasses overseeing multiple engineering teams, establishing strategic architecture, and ensuring platform reliability across various features.

Main Responsibilities

• Define and manage the technical strategy and roadmap for the Monnify platform.
• Lead engineering teams through managers to uphold quality standards and enhance organizational capability.
• Oversee the full developer experience, including APIs and documentation.
• Drive the platform's evolution toward multi-currency and international scalability.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols in a regulated context.
• Collaborate with product, commercial, and operations teams to align technical and business objectives.
• Mentor and develop engineering leaders and senior engineers.

Requirements
Applicants should possess over 10 years of software engineering experience, including 5 years in leadership, with extensive hands-on expertise in Java. A background in fintech or payments is essential, along with a strong understanding of API-driven products and high-throughput systems. Experience managing teams in a scaling organization is crucial.
