This position is unlike traditional technical writing roles. As a Technical Author, you'll lead documentation initiatives within teams across engineering, operations, or other sectors, blending exceptional technical communication skills with in-depth subject matter knowledge. Even entry-level authors can showcase their expertise and contribute to high-quality documentation practices.

Your responsibilities include:

• Creating, maintaining, and enhancing documentation for software and other materials.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure effective documentation contributions.
• Influencing product development through user insights on functionality and design.
• Engaging with user communities to tailor documentation to their needs.
• Standardizing content structure and style across products.
• Working alongside peers to elevate documentation standards within Canonical.

Ideal candidates will possess strong collaboration skills, technical writing expertise, and a passion for open-source software. Familiarity with Linux, command line, Git, and documentation tools like Sphinx is essential. A relevant degree and the ability to travel for company events are also required.
