Role Overview:
Canonical is seeking a Telco Field Engineering Director to lead its global Telco Field Engineering operations, focusing on the implementation of open-source solutions across various cloud environments. This position encompasses a wide range of technologies, including Ubuntu, Kubernetes, and private cloud systems.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor regional teams in presales and professional services.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, addressing customer challenges with innovative solutions.
- Engage in technical presales to meet departmental goals.
- Represent the team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Promote and implement effective engineering practices and processes.
- Collaborate with other leaders to drive team success and goal achievement.
Requirements:
- In-depth understanding of telco NFVi, cloud infrastructure, and related technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and knowledge of Linux.
- Proven track record in technical presales and customer interactions.
- Strong leadership skills with a passion for developing engineering talent.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages (Spanish or French) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for various events and meetings.
