The Pediatric and Youth Advisor (PYA) is integral to advancing EGPAF Tanzania's initiatives focused on children and youth in the fight against AIDS. Operating within the Regional Acceleration Strategy (RAS) team, the advisor will deliver technical guidance and practical support at healthcare facilities, enhancing the capabilities of staff in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH), particularly regarding HIV and TB prevention and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the execution of pediatric and adolescent strategies in the region.
- Collaborate with health facility staff and technical advisors to tackle pediatric and youth health challenges.
- Monitor progress towards pediatric targets, ensuring robust documentation and reporting.
- Facilitate capacity building through training and mentorship programs for healthcare providers.
- Enhance the PMTCT cascade by improving maternal HIV testing, ART initiation, and early infant diagnosis.
- Conduct site assessments to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives for PMTCT services.
Qualifications:
- MD with over 5 years of experience in HIV, TB, and adolescent/youth-focused health programming.
- Advanced degree in Pediatrics, Child Health, or Public Health is advantageous.
- Proven skills in program management and pediatric HIV/AIDS implementation.
- Strong analytical and communication abilities.
